The Little Genius Nursery has a dedicated nurse and we encourage you to talk to her if you have any concerns about your child’s health and well being.
Upon admission, and at regular intervals thereafter, the nurse will conduct routine Milestone Health Checks on weight, height and physical fitness. She will let you know if she has any concerns and we encourage you to do likewise.
You must submit the required medical forms before your child attend the nursery. Please alert the nurse if there are any changes in your child’s medical circumstances.
Nursery staff will not be able to administer any medications without your prior written consent. Please visit the nurse if your child needs medication during nursery hours.
Your child must be immunised in accordance with Kuwaiti regulations. For more information on this, please see the Fact Sheet in the Parent Section of our website. Please do keep the nurse updated of any immunisations your child has received during their time at The Little Genius Nursery.
Please ensure that you apply sunscreen to your child each and every morning. The nursery will apply sunscreen when extended outdoor pay activities and/or water play is scheduled. Advise the nurse if your child has any sensitivities or allergies to particular sunscreens.
Should your child fall ill or have a minor mishap during nursery hours, our nurse will inform you immediately and advise if your child needs to see a doctor or be sent home. In all cases, you will receive a medical form with a description of the illness/ mishap along with a description of the actions taken by staff.
When to Keep Your Child Home: In the event that your child has a fever, an infectious condition or has vomited within the past 24 hours, we ask that you keep him or her at home to recuperate. This protects your child and all children at the nursery.
Returning After Illness: Once your child is free from fever or vomiting for 24 hours, we welcome him or her back to the nursery. If your child had an infectious condition (lice, chickenpox, etc.), you must provide the office with a certificate from a doctor indicating that your child is free from the contagious condition before he or she can return. Please ask the nurse if you have any questions.
A well balanced diet is vital to a child’s health, and the food they eat influences their mood, behaviour and ability to concentrate and learn, as well as their physical growth.
Our nursery menus are carefully planned by a qualified nutritionist to offer children a variety of foods and to include all of the food groups in such a way that the required daily nutrients are provided.
We use fresh, additive-free foods that are prepared in our on-site kitchen where standards of hygiene and cleanliness follow international standards and best practice. We take our guidelines from the UK School Food Trust and the Kuwait Ministry of Health.
Allergies, intolerances, religious and cultural preferences are noted and clearly displayed in the classroom, the clinic and in the kitchen so that staff can refer to them. Please note that our nursery is a nut free zone. Please do not bring any nut products or traces of nuts into the nursery environment.
As part of our commitment to parent communication we share recipes on our website through the parent login section. As part of our commitment to two-way communication, parents can upload their favourite recipes to share with the nursery and other parents.
Sharing food with others is an important aspect of life. Children learn much about keeping themselves healthy and understanding cultural differences just from participating in a meal together.
